A leaking roof is no laughing matter. The most important thing is to get a professional roofer out to look at it to determine the nature and extent of the problem. At A P Benson Roofing & Building, we have more than forty years of continuous trading behind us, so you can take it from us: locating a leak in a roof is never as easy as it seems. Water can get in from any angle so that, wherever you have discovered a leak, the hole that it is getting into could be somewhere else entirely.
The first thing we do is send round one of our experienced roofers to inspect the roof itself. They will give it a thorough inspection – free of charge – from which they will be able to put together a plan for the roof repairs.
Having multiple people up on a roof is dangerous enough at the best of times; more so if the roof itself is already known to be damaged. However, we understand that you may want to see the extent of the damage for yourself, to ensure you are not being charged for work that does not need to be done. To allow for this, our roofer will take high-resolution digital photographs of the damaged section of roof, and will happily explain the roof repairs process to you, with reference to these photographs.
Unless the damage is particularly extensive, or caused by something we have not seen before (unlikely given the personal experience each of our team brings with them to every job), our roofer will give you a free, no-obligation quote for our roofing services on the spot.
All quotes are subject to change, but our roofers have all been in the business for years and are good at providing very accurate quotes for roof repairs. Our roofing services quotes include all major expenses, such as labour, materials, equipment hire, VAT, and so on, so there are no hidden extras. In general our quotes are very accurate, usually changing by no more than 10% by the time you get the final bill.
The only time the final invoice will change significantly from the original quote is if, in the course of the roof repairs, our roofer uncovers further damage to the roof that was not immediately noticeable during the initial inspection. This sometimes occurs, especially if the leak was not reported immediately and was left to worsen. What originally appeared to be nothing more than a few missing slates, could end up revealing a whole section of damaged leads and timbers once we start work.
In instances like this, we will always show and tell you the damage before beginning the extra work, and provide you with an amended quote to include the extra roof repairs. We will not proceed with any additional repairs until it has been okayed by you.
At A P Benson Roofing & Building, we never ask for the cost of roof repairs in full, up front. If it is a straightforward and quick repair job, we often don’t ask for any money until it has been completed. If the roof in question requires major roof repairs, then we may insist on a small deposit in advance, but that will depend on the extent of the damage involved.
No, any tradesman who reduces their quote in exchange for payment in cash is doing so in order to avoid recording the transaction and potentially paying VAT and income tax on it. As fully-accredited and professional roofers, that is not something we are prepared to do.
At A P Benson Roofing & Building, we accept many forms of payment, including cash, cheque, debit/credit card, and direct bank transfer.
Knowing how serious a leaking roof can be, we always strive to repair it as soon as possible. Depending on the extent of the damage and our existing workload, we can sometimes get the repairs done on the same day. That said, every case is different, so we would only be able to confirm a repair time once we have inspected it.
If a repair cannot be completed straight away for any given reason, we will always try to effect a temporary measure to block the leak. These are only ever intended as a stopgap, not a permanent fix, and we cannot guarantee that they will completely stop the leaking
Yes, we are fully-insured throughout the roofing services process. Our insurance covers injuries incurred by our roofers while on your property, injuries sustained by other people as a result of our actions, accidental damage to your property, and more.
